Harbour Industries Implements AXIOM® at Second Location
Harbour Industries has implemented AXIOM/mx Open at its Canadian
plant located approximately 45 miles southeast of Montreal in Farnham,
Quebec. The Canadian plant implementation follows the company's
earlier implementation of AXIOM/mx Open at its Shelburne, Vermont
headquarters and manufacturing site in mid-2001. The system was
implemented within 6 months at each site. AXIOM/mx Open is the foundation
of the AXIOM enterprise resource management system for the metals,
wire and cable industry from AXIS Computer Systems Inc.
Harbour Industries has been an AXIS customer since 1989. During
the 1990's, AXIS worked closely with Harbour Industries - along
with other wire and cable manufacturers - to define and develop
some of the advanced capabilities that set AXIOM/mx Open apart today.
In 2001, Harbour replaced the original COBOL version of AXIOM with
the greatly enhanced Progress-based version in order to gain expanded
functionality as well as an upgraded technology platform with graphical
user interface, platform independence, and added features such as
integrated e-mail event notifications. After the success of that
project, the AXIOM implementation was expanded to the newly expanded
plant in Canada.
Dennis Dodd, Harbour Industries CEO stated: "From the time
we first installed AXIOM in 1989, our company has grown substantially.
AXIOM has definitely helped us manage that growth. For us, AXIOM
is all about access to information - the information people need
to be responsive and efficient on a day-in, day-out basis. Moving
to the newer version has given us even more visibility - especially
in the areas of sales and customer service. We implemented AXIOM/mx
Open at our Canadian facility based on the successes realized at
our corporate location."
Harbour Industries manufactures high performance wire and cable
used in commercial, industrial, computer and military markets, as
well as coaxial cables for the RF/Microwave and communication markets.
The Harbour Industrial Park in Shelburne encompasses 20 acres and
includes buildings housing manufacturing, sales, warehousing,
research and development, and engineering. It manufactures
a variety of high performance wire and cables utilizing numerous
conductors, compounds, braids, and jacketing materials. It
also includes a separate manufacturing space dedicated to
the development of low loss, high frequency coaxial cables.
The Canadian manufacturing facility was recently expanded
to 55,000 sq. ft. and manufactures high temperature wire and
cable for industrial and appliance applications.
