Gautier Steel Goes Live with AXIOM® in 90 Days
Hot Rolled Steel Producer Implements Enterprise Management System
in Record Time
Gautier Steel Ltd. (Gautier Steel), one of the nation’s leading producers of hot rolled carbon and alloy products, has gone live with the AXIOM® Enterprise Management System as the company’s new management information system. The cut-over to the new system was achieved within just 90 days of project start – one of the fastest Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) implementations yet in the metals industry. AXIOM is a comprehensive business and manufacturing system built around the unique operational requirements of metals producers, processors, and service centers, as well as wire and cable manufacturers. AXIOM provides industry-specific support for all key aspects of the business, from sales, production, quality and financial management to integrated web-based customer service, advanced planning and scheduling, and decision support.
“We selected the AXIS ERP software because it’s a proven solution for the metals industry,” said Lynn Weber, Gautier Steel controller. “We felt we could implement quickly since it already fit the way we do business.”

Located in Johnstown, Pa., Gautier Steel produces carbon and alloy rolled flats, sharp cornered squares, and special sections. Billets are ordered to exact customer specifications; reheating and rolling are performed on the company’s 14-inch, 12-inch, and 9-inch bar mills. Gautier Steel also offers finishing services such as straightening, saw cutting, cleaning, heat treatment, testing, and special packaging. Industries served include construction, cold drawing, service centers, material handling, railroad, mining and primary aluminum.
