Metal Service Center to Implement AXIOM® in Two Locations

Dayton Steel Service Inc., a service center subsidiary of The Thompson Companies, has selected the AXIOM® Enterprise Management System as the company’s new generation business system, further extending AXIS’ growing customer base in the service center segment of the metals industry. The new system will be deployed at Dayton Steel Service’s two locations in Dayton, Ohio and Rome, Ga. AXIOM is a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) software system built around the unique operational requirements of metals producers, processors, and service centers.

“We selected the AXIS ERP solution over other service center management systems we evaluated because of its proven metals industry functionality, as well as its flexibility and ease of management,” stated Bill Proulx, Thompson Companies corporate controller. “With enhanced slit order processing, dynamic order fulfillment, and other new capabilities added to the AXIOM solution in recent releases, AXIS is addressing many of the unique needs of service centers within the framework of a comprehensive ERP solution. That’s good for us, and good for the service center industry as a whole.”

Dayton Steel Services maintains an extensive inventory of flat rolled steel products to provide customers with fast turnaround on cold rolled; cold rolled one pass; hot rolled pickled and oiled; hot dipped galvanized and galvanealled, electro-galvanized; aluminized; terne; and stainless products. Processes performed include slitting, rolling and oscillate slitting The company will use AXIOM to help streamline order processing, inventory control, production scheduling, quality management, load planning and shipping, and financial management.
