Consona Corporation Listed in Software Magazine’s 25th Annual Software 500 Software Magazine Ranks Consona as One of Top 10 Fastest Growing Software Companies, With More than 130 Percent Growth in 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 31, 2007 — Consona Corporation (Consona), a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for the enterprise, today announced its inclusion on the Software Magazine’s Software 500 ranking of the world’s largest software and service providers, now in its 25th year. Consona’s growth rate of 131.4 percent (as calculated by Software Magazine using year-over-year software and services revenues) also landed it in Software Magazine’s list of the top 10 fastest growing software companies. According to John Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and www.softwaremag.com, 73 percent of the Software 500 companies achieved revenue growth in 2006.
The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. “The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers, and IT staff research and create the short list of business partners,” Desmond said. “It is a quick reference of vendor viability. That is content of value.”
“We’re thrilled to have our growth throughout 2006 reflected in this year’s Software 500 ranking,” said Jeff Tognoni, CEO of Consona Corporation. “What’s exciting is that our results reflect a combination of both selling our current product line, as well as adding additional product lines via acquisitions. As we acquire software companies, we’re implementing the customer-centric, profitable, operating model we designed before our very first purchase in 2003. This model is founded on the sole principle that in today’s software industry, it is critical to shift more resources toward serving existing customers.”
As a result, in 2006, Consona delivered a 126 percent increase in total revenue, a 166 percent increase in revenue from software sales, and a 71 percent increase in EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) over the previous year.* In addition, because of new system implementations as well as customer enhancements to existing installations, revenues from professional services nearly tripled.
Consona’s industry-leading growth is largely due to an aggressive acquisition strategy. Indeed, in 2006, Consona acquired six product lines, including AXIS Computer Systems, Inc. (ERP for metals, wire and cable manufacturers), Encompix, Inc. (ERP for project-based engineer-to-order manufacturers), Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (ERP for small and midsize manufacturers), Relevant Business Systems, Inc. (ERP for aerospace and defense manufacturers), SupplyWorks, Inc. (supply chain collaboration tools), and Onyx Software Corporation (core CRM, business process management and business intelligence for the enterprise).
Consona wasn’t the only company that saw growth in 2006. According to Desmond, the 2007 Software 500 results showed that overall growth in the software and services industry was healthy—particularly in the services sector. “The industry continues to be dynamic, with more than 98 new companies on the list this year for the first time,” he said.
