Rockbestos-Surprenant Goes Live with AXIOM®
Rockbestos-Surprenant Cable Corporation has gone live with
the sales and finance portions of AXIOM/mx Open at two locations.
Both sites expect to go live with the system's manufacturing
functions in the first quarter of 2003. AXIOM/mx Open is the
foundation of the AXIOM Enterprise Resource Management System
for the metals, wire and cable industries from AXIS Computer
Systems, Inc.
The company's plant in Clinton, Massachusetts replaced the
original COBOL version of AXIOM with the greatly enhanced
Progress-based version, while the company's East Granby, Connecticut
plant replaced the BPCS system, which was implemented before
the Rockbestos and Surprenant companies merged. The combined
project is being managed using the AXIS SurePath for AXIOM/mx
Open implementation methodology.
Fred Schwelm, Rockbestos-Surprenant President, stated; "Getting
both of our sites on a common system that is well suited to
our cable manufacturing business is an important move for
us. AXIS has supported us well in this project and we are
now starting to take advantage of the new capabilities AXIOM/mx
Open makes available to us."
Along with AXIOM/mx Open, Rockbestos-Surprenant has also
implemented the CableCad finite element analysis and
computer-aided design system for cables, ropes and flexible
pipe from Analytics. AXIS is now assisting Rockbestos-Surprenant
with
the integration of the two systems.
Rockbestos-Surprenant Cable Corporation is a world leader
in the design and manufacture of insulated high performance
control, power, instrumentation, and specialty electrical
cables. The company is committed to meeting demanding customer
requirements through innovative design, excellence in manufacturing,
and unequaled customer service. Rockbestos-Surprenant was established
when the two companies were combined as one entity - now a
member of the Marmon Group - to create the largest specialty
low-voltage cable manufacturer in North America.
