Zierick Manufacturing Makes Technology Move
with AXIOM®/mx Open
Zierick Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer of stamped metal
interconnect products and engineered interconnect solutions for
the electronics industry has gone live with the newest version
of AXIOM/mx Open. An AXIOM user since the late 1980’s, Zierick
recently completed a major upgrade of the company’s information
systems with a move from the older COBOL version of AXIOM to AXIOM/mx
Open version 4 in a UNIX environment based on a Hewlett Packard
HP-UX server.
When Zierick management determined it was time for a significant
upgrade of the company’s IT environment, they decided that
they should research all aspects, including available enterprise
resource management systems. After reviewing a number of potential
software systems, Zierick made the decision to move to the newer
version of AXIOM.
“
After looking at many of the ERP-type systems that are out there,
it was clear that nothing would fit our metal stamping business
as well as today’s enhanced and extended AXIOM product,” states
Zierick Manufacturing President, Gretchen Zierick. “But that’s
not the only reason we decided to go to AXIOM/mx Open. Just as
important to our decision was the fact that AXIS has been a very
good partner over the years. Based on our past experience, we knew
they would support us well in the upgrade project, and we had confidence
in the quality of the software.”
JoAnne Kenney, Zierick IT Manager, adds: “The new AXIOM product,
combined with Progress and the other tools we have access to in
the UNIX environment, give us the ability to leverage the information
in our database far beyond what we were able to do before. That
is already providing us with better visibility and control of operations,
and with the information to improve customer service and reduce
costs.”
Located in Mount Kisco, New York, Zierick Manufacturing produces
a wide range of surface mount and through hole connectors, hardware
and assembly equipment for customers in the electronics industry.
Zierick also offers custom stamping services and uses an integrated
design for manufacture and assembly (I-DFMA) process for working
with customers to develop custom products to fit special applications.
Using this collaborative approach, the company’s engineers
have developed many industry breakthroughs in durability, reliability,
and efficiency.
